Artist

Mark Joyce

Since 2000 Mark Joyce been working with ideas of physical light, pulling colours across a surface, creating paths of solid light and a charged space behind. The viewer encounters aspects of a scientific discourse played out physically in the artwork. Marks interest in this area is driven by human curiosity about what underpins things in the world.

Mark Joyce was born in Dublin in 1966. He studied painting at the Royal College of Art, London. He has had Solo Exhibitions in Ireland, UK and the USA. He has curated exhibitions in the Netherlands and Australia. His work is in many public collections including the Irish Museum of Modern Art, and the Arts Council of Ireland. In 2007 he was artist in residence at the Josef and Annie Albers Foundation in Connecticut, USA. His work has been reviewed in Flash Art, Turps Banana, Denver Post, The Sunday Times and RTE Radio and Television.
