Dennis McNulty and Fergus Martin
Surface & Reality, Kilkenny Arts Festival

Green On Red Gallery is pleased to announce the participation of Dennis McNulty and Fergus Martin in Surface & Reality, a group exhibition curated by Oliver Dowling for the Kilkenny Arts Festival.

Surface & Reality is an exhibition of eleven artists in five locations in Kilkenny running as a pathway through the city. Each of the artists has a very strong practice reflecting his and her own creative reality in individual ways. There is no one theme running through the exhibition. It is its strength that, although retaining their own voices, each artist is bound by realities that do not necessarily seem obvious on the surface. What is pictorially simple and straightforward might not be and what is abstract might be straightforward. Nothing can be taken for granted; these artists continuously push boundaries. The exhibition includes film, paintings, photographs, installation and sound. The wonder and vision of the artist take time to absorb. And there is a great opportunity to take time with the exhibition in the relaxed atmosphere of Kilkenny Arts Festival.

Declan Clarke, Ciaran Walsh and Eoghan McTigue are all Irish-born and living in Berlin; Susan Philipsz is Scottish also living in Berlin. Willie Doherty was born and lives in Derry; Stephen Loughman, Dennis McNulty, Fergus Martin and Michael Coleman are Dublin-based; Eithne Jordan is Dublin-born, living mainly in France and William McKeown is from County Tyrone and living in Edinburgh. Each artist exhibits extensively here in Ireland and internationally.

Dennis McNulty's work will be located in the Ormonde street car park, top floor.
Fergus Martin's work will be located in 11 Patrick street.
