September an exhibition without borders

  • Green On Red Gallery Park Lane, Spencer Dock Dublin 1 Ireland (map)

Green On Red Gallery announce September an exhibition without borders - an exhibition of new and existing works by gallery artists plus new artists.

September is a cross-section of artists working in a wide variety of media and from many different cultures, partly to emphasise the beauty of open borders and open minds. There isn’t a fixed them to September but the show will allow thje artists’ works to set the conversation and to create an open dialogue between multiple worldviews from different eras.

New to the gallery are Drogheda, based artist and curator Brian Hegarty and the late Slovakian artist and stalwart of Eastern European avant-garde from the 1960’s on, Július Koller (d. 2007).

Hegarty’s creates works between painting, sculpture and assemblage. He uses everyday materials such as a paper and cardboard, highlighting theprocess of cuttering, folding, layering and repairing. His works deliberately reveal their construction and fragility, reflecting instability and uncertainty.

Koller explores arts as a form of cultural and political action. Influenced by the political changes in Czechoslovakia during the late 1980’s, he questions the contradictions between utopian ideals and everyday reality. His work often incorporates self-portraits, ordinary objects, and symbols, particularly the question mark, which represents doubt, curiosity and openness.
